2023 Washington PCT Hike

It all begins with an idea.

In late August of 2022 Jena & Rachael set out on a hike near Snoqualmie Pass to do a shoot. The girls were surprised to find that the trail they were on was part of the PCT. They were able to stop and chat with many of the hikers to hear about their journey so far and what was to come as the continue on to the final stretch towards Canada. That evening as they sat outside a brewery at the base of the mountain they jokingly chatted about how cool it would be to attempt the PCT. Living in Seattle, within such close proximity to parts of the PCT, they had grown up hearing about the trails for most of their lives. After talking through the idea with no real seriousness there was a pause in their conversation in which one of them said, “but what if we actually do it”. After some quick brainstorming on whether or not they could, they decided that the following summer of 2023 they were going to attempt the 520 miles of the Washington section of the PCT.

The Gals

  • Jena

Jena is a commercial photographer based out of Seattle. From a young age she was out hiking with her grandfather and now spends her time working with outdoor goods & apparel brands to inspire others to spend their time outside as well.

  • Rachael

Rachael is the strength and conditioning coach at Seattle Pacific University. With the summer months off Rachael made a goal to hike 52 hikes in 2022, she is currently at 33.

Sponsorships

We are looking for sponsorships to help us complete the Washington section of the PCT. We plan to bring our phones, and Jena will have her Sony camera to document the whole trip. Extreme through hikes, like the PCT, are heavily male dominated. We want to inspire other women that, thought the experience may be daunting, it is possible and woman have a place on the trails too. Our goal is to document our journey through semi daily, vlog style videos as well as the images that Jena will capture. This would act as an amazing opportunity for your brand to gain engaging and relevant UGC that will show your products in use as well as take your viewers along for the ride and inspire then to attempt their outdoor goals.

“I was amazed that what I needed to survive could be carried on my back. And, most surprising of all, that I could carry it… I think it's neat you do what you want. Not enough chicks do that, if you ask me--just tell society and their expectations to go [screw] themselves. If more women did that, we'd be better off.”
